What are bingo wings?
Bingo wings are a common and frustrating problem that many older women experience. They form as loose areas of skin and excess fat on the upper arm wobble when the arm is shaken or lifted.
They can cause a lot of embarrassment and affect self-confidence – in fact, in one study three out of four women said they were unhappy with the appearance of their arms. However, there are excellent treatments available that can help.
WHAT CAUSES BINGO WINGS?
Bingo wings can be caused by extreme weight loss, poor muscle mass or genetics but are also commonly associated with the natural ageing process. They are a result of excess fatty tissue (or a lack of msucle mass) that stretches the skin, but there are treatments available to minimise the appearance of bingo wings.
Also, once you reach the age of 30, your muscle mass starts to decline. Without exercising to build-up muscle mass, your body will start to lose its tone. In the upper arms, the skin can sag due to a lack of muscle mass to hold up the tissue.
WHY DO WOMEN GET BINGO WINGS MORE THAN MEN?
The reason bingo wings are more prevalent in women is down to hormones. Stress and hormonal changes make women more prone to developing fat in certain areas of the body. Men also tend to do more weight training on the upper body than women. This combination of factors make bingo wings a lot more common in women than in men.

TREATMENT OPTION: LIPOSUCTION
Lipo isn’t just for the body. Liposuction, or fat removal surgery, is also known as liposculpture or lipoplasty. Essentially liposuction is the targeted removal of fatty deposits with the use of cannulae and a vacuum. It can be performed on men and women and virtually anywhere on the body.
Common areas for liposuction include the abdomen, hips, flanks, inner and outer thighs, knees and it is also an effective treatment for bingo wings.

Brachioplasty, also known as an arm lift, is a surgical procedure that reduces the circumference of the upper arms and removes excess lax skin.
The arm lift surgery targets what is often referred to as ‘bingo wings’ and is usually performed in conjunction with liposuction to improve the overall contours of the arms. This surgery is suitable for men and women and is often performed on patients at our London clinic who have experienced sudden weight fluctuations.

Micro-liposuction (aka MicroLipo or micro-lipo) removes localised fat deposits very precisely using tiny cannulas — much smaller in size than traditional liposuction. These micro cannulas can be as small as 2mm in diameter.
Micro-liposuction is perfect for those awkward little areas of fat you just can’t seem to shift, such as the fat under your chin or on your face, cheeks, thighs or belly pooch.
