“I look tired all the time!” Three things that are making you look tired

“You look tired.” Three dreaded little words that are hard to hear, particularly when you’re feeling fine.

This is a common concern that we hear in our clinic. Men and women who feel vibrant and energetic but are frequently asked if they are fatigued and think that it is increasingly starting to affect how they are treated at work or by loved one.

We have identified the three main facial changes contributing to a tired appearance and how to address them. The natural ageing process is the usual culprit for these unwelcome changes, but younger patients can often be genetically predisposed.

#1 Dark circles

Dark circles under the eyes are often attributed to a lack of sleep, but their appearance is typically multifactorial. Ageing is a common cause as the delicate skin starts to thin, and the underlying blood vessels give a darker tinge. Poor circulation or genetics can also play a role.

“The treatment depends on the cause,” Karidis Clinic’s Dr Emily explains. “Light Eyes Ultra can be used for several different indications including dehydration to the periorbital skin and fine lines, but the ideal candidate is someone with dark circles and increased pigmentation around their eyes as the vitamin C content creates a brightening effect.”

#2 Downturned mouth corners

Possibly one of the biggest contributors to a tired or sad appearance is a downturned mouth. In younger patients, this can be caused by overly strong depressor muscles at the corner of the mouth pulling it down. In more mature patients, it can be caused by volume loss and the descent of the facial soft tissues, leading to drooping around the mouth.

“At Karidis Clinic, we offer a wide range of injectable treatments that can address the causes of a downturned mouth. Wrinkle-smoothing injections can relax the muscle that pulls down the corner of the mouth, while dermal fillers can create structural support. Profhilo Structura is a new treatment that targets deeper fat layers. By regenerating this layer, Profhilo Structura counteracts tissue descent for a subtle, natural lift,” Dr Emily concludes.

#3 Dull skin

When your skin lacks the lustre and glow it used to have, it can make you look tired before your time. There are a myriad of reasons why you wake up with dull-looking skin, from reduced collagen production and decreased cell turnover to sun damage. Lifestyle factors such as smoking, poor diet, alcohol consumption, and lack of sleep can also play a role.

Profhilo is a skin treatment that effectively renews dull and fatigued skin,” explains Dr Emily.

Composed of a high concentration of hyaluronic acid, Profhilo acts as a hydrator rather than a filler. This makes it a fantastic treatment for tired, dull-looking skin, restoring a firm, luminous complexion.
